モデムサポート
　一部のユーザーは、Windows Mobileの従来バージョンをハッキングして、同プラットフォームを搭載した携帯電話をPCの無線データモデムとして利用している。だがWindows Mobile 6では、モデムとして利用するための設定を容易に行えるユーザーインタフェースが用意されている。

Windows Updateのサポート
　Windows Mobile 6はWindows Updateをサポートしているため、ユーザーはパッチや更新プログラム（例えば、Officeファイルフィルタなど）を、キャリアやデバイスメーカーを通さずにMicrosoftサイトから直接入手できる。しかし、多くのキャリアは、動作検証を行った上でサポートしているデバイスの構成が変わることに神経をとがらせる。このため、Microsoftは、緊急のセキュリティパッチ以外のプログラムをWindows Updateで公開する際には、非常に慎重になるだろう。

ストレージカードの暗号化
　Windows Mobile 5ユーザーは、デバイスの内蔵ストレージをパスワードで暗号化できるため、デバイスが紛失したり盗まれたりしても、内部のデータは保護される。だが、リムーバブルストレージカードに保存されたデータを、この方法で保護することはできない。これに対し、Windows Mobile 6では、ストレージカード上のデータも、内蔵ストレージと同様に暗号化できる。また、Windows Mobile 5では、リモートからデバイスのメモリを消去できるが、Windows Mobile 6では、ストレージカード上のデータも同様に消去できる。

Windows Liveに対応
　Microsoftはキャリアと携帯電話OEMに、各種のWindows Liveサービス（Contacts、Hotmail、Messenger、Search、Spaces）をWindows Mobileインタフェースに統合するWindows Mobile 6携帯電話用クライアントソフトウェアスイートを提供している。すべてのOEMやキャリアがこのスイートを採用するとは限らないが、Windows Liveをサポートするデバイスは、消費者にとってより魅力的だろう。例えば、インスタントメッセージング（IM）サービスのWindows Live Messengerに対応する新クライアントの興味深い機能の1つとして、複数人でのテキストチャットのサポートがある。
